I saw a commercial that said, "forget everything you know about slip covers!" So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slip covers, but I didn't know what the hell they were.

    Short Board

Posted by Pete on September 28th, 2004

I realize a lot of my posts are about surfing but that’s one of the main things I love about being out here in San Diego. Last weekend I tried a shorter board for the first time. For those that haven’t surfed, learning on a long board is considered the best way to start out because its easier to paddle and more stable to stand on. Switching to a shorter board is something that a lot of people do closer to the winter here because the waves are bigger and you need to be able to cut and move around. The difficulty is with the increased mobility, you lose stability which makes it tough at first for those who still are learing.

So, needless to say, I did crash a lot when I went out but I also managed to stand up a few times and although I wasn’t doing much, I can already tell this is much better than long boarding.
