Padres vs. Dodgers

Posted by Pete on June 23rd, 2005

Went to the game last night. Padres lost but it was still a great time. We were able to go on the field during batting practice and sat in a sweet-suite during the game!

International Surfing Day

Posted by Pete on June 17th, 2005

Ever needed a legitimate excuse to go surfing? Well, on June 21, 2005, you finally have it: International Surfing Day. Created by SURFING Magazine, this unofficial, official surfers’ holiday gives us a chance to promote and celebrate the sport while bringing awareness to the state of our oceans and beaches.

Its on a Tuesday though so I’ll have to wait until after work before I head out. The article does claim that this is a holiday however. Does that mean I get the day off?

Did Someone Piss Off Mother Nature?

Posted by Pete on June 16th, 2005

Another quake today. This was East of LA but I think I felt it, either that or a big truck drove by the office. Others said they felt it too though.

Wednesday night I was at a BBQ on the beach of La Jolla when someone came by and warned us that a 7.0 earthquake had hit off the shores of Northern California and the whole coast was under a Tsunami warning. That warning was later canceled but we ended up leaving anyway since it was getting late.

The previous Sunday San Diego felt another quake that was about a 3.0-4.0 in my area. It woke me up as I felt the bed moving back and forth…then it got stronger where I could hear the glass doors on my shower rattling. This was my third ever and by far the biggest. I think it was centered just south of Palm Springs.

I think I’m going to buy some land in Arizona in hopes that it’ll be beach front property soon. :)

[((R x D + V) x F) + S]/A

In the spirit of my last blog where I identifed some “interesting” new shows coming up this summer, I ran across an article which claims that people can now predict a shows success by using a mathmatical formula. Granted it only applies to sitcoms.

“Thanks to a team of British scientists headed by a molecular neurobiologist/stand-up comic, though, that’s no longer the case. The team believes it has nailed down a mathematical expression of TV comedy success.”

Summer TV Lineup

Posted by Pete on June 8th, 2005

Just found out about a few interesting shows that are supposedly coming this summer:

Fire Me…Please – Unlike The Apprentice, this CBS reality show features contestants who WANT to get fired. The one closest to 3:00 wins.

Tommy Lee Goes to College – 42-year-old rocker Tommy Lee enrolls in college for this NBC reality show. Actually I think he plays in the college marching band too.

Atari 2600 Adventure

Posted by Pete on June 6th, 2005

One of my favorite games growing up was Adventure on the Atari 2600 console. Its still fun to play and was the first game that contained an Easter Egg. I recently came across this site that has a Flash version of the game. I haven’t tried the Easter Egg yet but I’m curious if it was recreated.

Padres vs. Cubs

Posted by Pete on June 5th, 2005

Went to the Cubs/Padres game on Saturday with some friends. Cubs won 11-5 which was cool but it was tough to know who to route for. I’ve grown up watching the Cubs but I’m also a strong believer that you’ve got to support your home teams. In the end, I supported the Cubbies, I’ve been a fan for longer.
